York Hospital Chooses the Downstream Defender® to Protect Pond
YORK, Maine  - 1 January 2006 - In a recent Seacoastonline.com article York Hospital is commended for taking every step possible to save a nearby pond.  To help them in this effort they chose the Downstream Defender as the best solution to treat stormwater runoff from their parking lot.  The hospital was not driven to do this by any state or local regulation, but instead by their own concern for the environment: "This project represents the first known installation of such a structure in York and is a big step toward preserving the watershed area around the Barrell Mill Pond and the rest of the York Watershed area," said Carol Donnelly, chairman of the York Rivers Association. "The hospital has always been proactive and has done some other work in the past on their property to help preserve the area. This is just another example of their commitment and we are very happy to see this project completed."
