Hydro International Organizes 907-Mile Bike Relay in Britain to Benefit Charity WaterAid

CLEVEDON, U.K. - Hydro International, a provider of environmentally sustainable products and innovative solutions to control and treat stormwater and wastewater, today announced that 24 bike riders from its US and UK headquarters offices plan to cycle for several days from one end of Britain to the other next month to raise money for the international environmental charity Water Aid.

The Ride Up Britain event, organized by Hydro International, kicks off May 15 at Lands End, at the southwest tip of England, about 30050 miles southwest of London, and winds along a 907-mile route, ending at John O’Groats, Scotland, the northernmost tip of the British mainland. Staffers from Hydro’s US headquarters in Portland, Maine, participating in the event include Chief Operating Officer Chris Williams, who is heading his own team, and Group Marketing Manager Lisa Lemont and Regional Sales Manager Phil Taylor. Water Aid is an organization which partners with local organizations to use practical solutions to provide safe water to the poorest people in 17 countries in Africa, Asia and the Pacific region.

“Hydro is a proud supporter of Water Aid’s mission to provide safe water to less fortunate people,” said Chris Williams, Chief Operating Officer for Hydro. “Hydro is dedicated to providing environmentally sustainabletable products and participating in global attempts to provide clean water, so this sponsorship fits in well with our overall mission.”

The teams expect to take anything from three to five days to cycle the length of the country. The cyclists will take turns to ride in relays of one or two people. Each team will be accompanied by a support vehicle for the cyclists to rest and to carry spares and supplies. To sponsor the event, visit www.rideupbritain.co.uk and click on the sponsorship section. “Hydro has committed itself to raise $6£30,000 for Water Aid over a three-year partnership, and Ride up Britain is a great step up the ladder to achieving this goal,” said event organizer Marcus Mumford.  “We are looking for sponsorship from colleagues, friends – in fact, anyone who can help us towards our goal.”
