Hydro Wins Thames Wastewater Contracts
CLEVEDON, U.K. - Thames Water has awarded two significant wastewater treatment equipment supply contracts to Hydro International as part of its £3 billion five-year investment programme to improve water and waste water facilities between 2005 and 2010. Hydro will supply equipment to improve primary sludge settlement tank operation and removing fine suspended solids in contracts worth more than £3 million. Thames Water procurement engineer Mike Shunn commented: “As per EU guidelines, the Zickert system scrapers were evaluated for economic advantages, and offered the best whole life cost of the alternatives. In addition, they have a low profile should we need to enclose the tanks at some stage.” Installation is expected to be complete for January 2008. Neil Dugmore, Costain Project Manager at Hogsmill STW commented: "Thames Water wished to further enhance treatment effectiveness and water quality at the works and the Hydro DynaDisc™ was a cost-effective, high performance solution, which could be supplied on a very short lead time." Installation is scheduled for September 2007. |
