Hydro International is committed to continuous improvement in reducing negative environmental impacts and fostering the positive behaviors and practices that create an environmentally sustainable workplace.

Hydro is implementing a Group-wide Environmental Management System in accordance with ISO 14001 . A rollout of the programme is in place across the company. Hydro’s UK Wastewater operation in Ely and the UK Stormwater operation in Clevedon have achieved ISO 14001 certification.

Products & Services for the Environment

Hydro considers that its positive environmental impacts include its contribution to sustainable development and environmental improvement through the markets we service .

The Group’s products are used around the world to control the flow of urban stormwater, improve the quality of stormwater through liquid/solid separation and filtration, store and re-use rainwater and treat wastewater as part of the operation of sewerage and water treatment works. Within this scope of operations many of the products have been designed to operate without the need for power and with a minimum of ongoing service and maintenance requirement.

Hydro is committed to an extensive programme of research and development to continually improve the performance of existing products and find environmentally and economically sustainable solutions to related water management problems.

Reducing the Environmental Impact of Business

Hydro International has an ongoing programme designed to reduce the Group's carbon footprint.  In 2008, Hydro completed a joint project with Bristol University to establish a baseline carbon footprint of the company's worldwide operations.  The Group is currently implementing operational changes to reduce waste, energy consumption, water usage, and vehicular and air travel to reduce its negative environmental impacts and carbon footprint. 

Promoting Environmental Awareness

 Hydro International supports Save the Rain™ , a campaign aiming to increase public awareness of the relationship between potable water consumption and water conservation. The Save the Rain™ website is an educational resource for homeowners, developers and policy makers looking for practical help with water conservation measures.
