Hydro International Runners Take Steps to Support WaterAid America

PORTLAND, Maine - Six Employees From Hydro International Participating in Aug. 4 ‘Beach to Beacon 10k’ Road Race in Cape Elizabeth, Maine, to Raise Funds for U.S. Affiliate of Global WaterAid Alliance

Hydro International has announced its participation in an annual Maine charity 10-kilometer road race on Saturday, Aug. 4. Hydro is using the TD Banknorth Beach to Beacon 10k in Cape Elizabeth as an opportunity to raise money for WaterAid America, a partner in the global alliance to provide the world with safe water, sanitation and hygiene.

Hydro International’s EU subsidiaries launched a three-year partnership with WaterAid earlier this year on World Environment Day, June 5, 2007. Hydro’s goal is to raise $30,000 in the first year of this partnership though fundraising events and fun days.

“I’m thrilled that Hydro has the chance to raise funds for WaterAid, a cause that mirrors our corporate goals and values,” said Stephen Hides, CEO of Hydro International. “One of the pillars of Hydro’s mission statement is a ‘commitment to sustainability’ and I am proud to support an organization that has made that same type of commitment to safe water.”

Six runners from Hydro’s Portland headquarters have teamed up to run the road race: Steve Hides, CEO; Lisa Glennon, marketing manager; Kwabena Osei, U.S. R&D manager; Eric Lemont, senior stormwater engineer; Frederick Kraekel, U.S. sales representative; and Charlotte Hides, associate. Together, the team has raised a total of $3,150.

Fifteen companies have supported the Hydro runners’ efforts with corporate sponsorships. Donors include 11 top-level “Purification Partners” and four “Filtration Friends”:

“Purification Partners”: EnviroSales of Florida; Hartwell Environmental; CBRE The Boulos Company; Sherwood Logan & Associates Inc.; Environmental Control Dynamics Inc.; Turner Baker Insurance; Industrial Metal Fabricators; Leigh Environmental; Ley & Associates, Inc.; Dynamic Plastic Solutions and ACG Technology.

“Filtration Friends”: Beaver Equipment Inc., Kenmore, Wash.; Bernstein Shur, Portland, Maine; LW Meyer Inc., West Bloomfield, Mich., and The Maher Corp., Rockland, Mass.
