Hydro`s Robert Andoh Authors Sediment Washout Article in WaterWorld`s Urban Water Magazine

PORTLAND, Maine - Hydro International is proud to announce the publication of a stormwater feature authored by Director of Innovation Professor Bob Andoh.

The feature, which can be found in the July 2007 Urban Water Management Supplement of WaterWorld Magazine</a>, a PennWell publication, explores the phenomenon of pollutant washout that plagues many stormwater BMPs.

Research conducted at Liverpool John Moores University in Liverpool, England has shown that stormwater treatment devices without isolated and protected sediment storage zones are prone to washing out previously captured sediment during moderate storm events.  Further research conducted by Hydro International has corroborated the Liverpool John Moores study.

"We are optimistic that the stormwater industy has started to take notice of the reality of pollutant washout," says Bob Andoh, Director of Innovation.  "By reducing the use of stormwater BMPs that are prone to washing out, our nation`s waters will be more protected from the damaging effects of sediments."
